For this project Quiero y Puedo we had to build a toy for the orphanage kids in Tijuana. We had to build it with our own hands.
Before building the original design we had to make a prototype in 2 hours, Ms. Soler partnered us up with one of our classmates. My partner was Ilse Uribe. We both had different ideas, she wanted to make a treasure box with mystery things inside and I wanted to build a go-kart. We then combined ideas and came up with the idea of making a go-kart and giving them a trophy with mystery thing inside. I thought this was a really good idea, but we didn't have the materials neither the time to build him that.
He is Victor, he is10 years old and has no communication with his dad and he only sees his mom once every 3 months. He gave me a lesson to be grateful for everything I have . I could see on his face that he was so happy for his early christmas gifts . The words that I will never forget will be those that he told me when I gave him his blanket, he said-
"Thank you so much for the blanket thanks to you I won´t be cold at night."
We must be thankful for all that we have , and also share how much or little we have.
Peer critique & Personal reflection
Once you have all the materials that you need; Fabric, yarn, needles, scissors, and wadding.
1.You will measure both fabrics, (the one with design and the simple one) to check one more time if they are the same lenght.
2.Now that you have checked your fabric you will flip both of the fabrics and start sewing on the sides. It doesn't really matter if it comes out ugly or pretty because you will flip it inside out, but still try your best.
3.Sew three sides, leaving only one side unstitched , because you will need to turn it around .
4.When you have already flipped it to the other side keep on sewing.
5. If you are done you will put it to the side for you to start working on your pillow.
6.It will be the same procces as the blanket but when you are at step number 3 you will insert the waddig inside the pilllow case until the size of your liking. Then keep on sewing.
7. Once you are done sewing you pillow case you are all done!

Here I am writing a letter to Victor Wishing him a nice Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Since I didn´t have no time to build Victor a go-kart I got inspired by my classmate Riley. She had made some beautiful blankets with pillows and it look very easy, I decided to make Vitor a blanket and a personalized pillow.
Here are some pictures of my final product.
